KKN Gurugram Desk | The rumor mills were abuzz recently with reports that Ranveer Singh would be producing a film based on Shaktimaan, the iconic Indian superhero of the 1990s. However, the actor’s official team has now denied these claims, stating that Ranveer is not involved in the production of the Shaktimaan reboot in any capacity.

“There is no truth to the reports that Ranveer Singh has acquired production rights or is associated with the new Shaktimaan project,” stated Ranveer’s team.
Currently, the actor is busy shooting for Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film and also preparing for Don 3, which is expected to go on floors soon.
What Was the Rumor About?
Earlier media reports suggested that after being rejected as the lead actor for the Shaktimaan reboot, Ranveer Singh might instead produce the superhero film. These rumors gained traction after fans noticed his growing interest in superhero content, both Indian and international.
The speculation intensified after actor Mukesh Khanna, the original Shaktimaan, had openly refused Ranveer’s casting in the title role, citing reasons related to “personality mismatch” and “lack of seriousness”.
Mukesh Khanna’s Statement: “Ranveer Tried to Convince Me”
In an earlier interview with Siddharth Kannan, Mukesh Khanna revealed that Ranveer had personally tried to persuade him to allow his casting in the Shaktimaan role.
“There was an arranged meeting by Sony. Ranveer met me and tried for three to four hours to convince me that he could play Shaktimaan. This wasn’t the first time he showed interest,” said Mukesh Khanna.
Khanna, who owns the rights to the character, had firmly rejected Ranveer, expressing that he did not see him as the right fit for such an iconic, culturally-rooted superhero role.
The Legacy of Shaktimaan: Why It Matters
The 90s TV show Shaktimaan is not just a nostalgic favorite but also a symbol of Indian superhero fiction. The character, portrayed by Mukesh Khanna, became a cultural icon, and its reboot has been a subject of fan discussion for years.
Any development on the Shaktimaan film — especially around casting or production — immediately attracts public attention due to the emotional attachment fans hold for the original series.
Ranveer’s Focus on Other Projects
Ranveer Singh has a busy schedule ahead, which further clarifies why he is not taking on the Shaktimaan project:
-
Currently filming a yet-untitled action film directed by Aditya Dhar
-
Preparing for Don 3, where he steps into the iconic role previously played by Shah Rukh Khan
-
Additional rumored OTT and international collaborations
This clears the air that while Ranveer may be open to superhero roles, Shaktimaan is not on his slate.
